Franklin and the Unseen

All human situations have their inconveniences. We feel those of the present but neither see nor feel those of the future; and hence we often make troublesome changes without amendment, and frequently for the worse.

  1. I linked this quote to the wikipedia entry of Bastiat's Broken Window Fallacy, which is where I got the title of "Franklin and the Unseen" from. Bastiat talked plenty about how you have to look at what is seen AND what is not seen to correctly validate actions and results of what is present. His broken window fallacy is a good short read and I would suggest it to all.
