Robbery and Local Law and Respect

I had seen with my own eyes, buckskin purses half full of gold-dust, lying on a rock near the road-side, while the owners were working some distance off. So I was not afraid of robbery.

  1. This quote was used in Mr. Shaffer's book to help discuss that in places absent of Government force, where people are used to respecting eachother's property without the help of government, that respect for people and their belongings is normal. There were communal laws in place for those cases otherwise however so no one is quite that foolish! :-)
